Singapore F1 GP No.2

After the whole 'Crashgate' fiasco, I was looking forward to an exciting weekend. This is the 2nd Singapore GP. But the first one that I'll be seated in the grandstands. And on the actual raceday too! Thanks to my hubbie.

We went by MRT so we didn't have to get caught in traffic. We stopped by 'New York, New York' to have dinner. Then walked into the F1 area and then to our grandstand. It was at the Marina Bay area, the floating platform grandstand. The view from there was gorgeous. We could see the Singapore skyline lit up beautifully. This also happened to be the area where the cars would drive by in front of us and then turn underneath the grandstand. So they wouldn't be driving too fast.

There were also screens put up in front so we could see the action on live tv and watch the cars when they drive by. It's really something else. Up on the grandstands, the noise wasn't so bad and we could see everything that was going on. Way better than on street level.

People were cheering as some of the cars drove by. Flashes were going off. The sound of the cars vibrated the air and there were helicopters flying up overhead. The atmosphere was vibrant. I can see why people would pay so much to come to GP events. We didn't stay for the whole race though. We thought we'd leave early so as not to get lost in the crowd.

But I'd go again next year if given the chance and another grandstand seat.

Teeth

Gabriel now has 4 teeth. It took me a while before I managed to get a photo with him smiling and with ALL his teeth.

Weekly Scrapz

Websters Pages have really gorgeous papers. I used their Postcards from Paris line to do this challenge from (Create) Make it Happen. This month, we have to use at least 3 stamps on the layout. I used a Tim Holtz letter one, a florish stamp and a Inkadinkado bird stamp.

Another of Websters Pages Postcards from Paris line. I cut out elements from another patterned paper to embellish the layout. I also used MT's patterned masking tape and some Prima flowers.

Weekend Away

We spent the weekend in a gorgeous suite in Marina Mandarin. We had a great time there. Especially with the restaurants and buffets. There was a yummy seafood buffet and the Chinese restaurant had a very good dimsum buffet.

The boys had a great time. Especially when Bryan got to go swimming in the pool. Gabriel went too. But it was a little cold in the morning and I decided he'd be better off in a warm bath.

Not only was the food good, but the shopping as well. Just next to the hotel is Marina Square which we spent some of our free time. Bryan got some new Matchbox cars, Gabriel got some new clothes and I got a new book. Being so close to the Singapore Formula 1, there were lots of Formula 1 offers and stuff. Including this exhibition. Where there was a life size Ferrari F1 car on display. We all got to take a photo with it.

Art Appreciation

Bryan brought back this drawing from school. And I was blown away. I didn't think he was able to draw figures that well. The last one he drew had a circle for the face and eyes placed at odd places. This one he drew has his eyes, nose and mouth in the right places. And Bryan even drew in the hair, body and arms. It's very good. Bryan says it's him with mommy, daddy and gabriel. I think I'm framing this.

Happy Birthday Hubbie

Hubbie turns 34 today. Happy Birthday Hunnie. We went out for Jap buffet at Minori in UE Square. I ate my fill of sashimi. I got him a delicious chocolate cake from Bakerzin to have for dessert. It was called 'Chocolate Affair'. It was really yummy. There was soft creamy chocolate mousse in between the layers. And it melts in the mouth. Mmmmm...

But that's not all though. I have a lovely weekend planned. With the kids too.

Weekly Scrapz

This layout I did for a challenge on The Story Matters. It's about Daily Rituals. I think this is the first challenge that I've tried out. Just for fun!

These two layouts are made with Cosmo Cricket's Earth Love collection. I used the papers, stickers and chipboards. I absolutely adore this collection!

When I bought the My Mind's Eye Abbey Road dinosaur collection, I haven't had anything in mind. But when I realised I was scrapping Bryan's dentist visit, I thought this was a perfect match! Because to get Bryan ready for his dentist visit, I read to him a book about 'Harry and his dinosaurs Say Raah!'

This is the rest of the My Mind's Eye line. The patterned paper with the circles actually reminded me of the bowling ball. Which was perfect for the layout. Hubbie took us bowling just for fun one day. And Bryan, who wore shoes much bigger than his feet, really enjoyed himself. So did Gabriel who watched from the sidelines.

Playtime Together

Over the weekend, I had a playtime session with my kids. They were both in the playroom, basically doing their own things. It was not easy trying to get a photo of both of them in it at the same time. Until both found something they both liked. BALLS! And lots and lots of balls.

For The Love of Durians

My in-laws bought some durians for us to eat. Both my boys love durian. It's sticky and smells but really yummy. Even Gabriel can't resist it. And if you look closely, he is quite a messy eater.

Fruits.

Both my boys love their fruits. But Gabriel usually needs some help with mushing up the fruits. He's learnt how to bite with his 4 front teeth (2 top and 2 bottom) and chew a bit with them. So to encourage him to keep learning to chew, we've decided to let him try some grapes. I'd have to peel the skin off though. Which feels like peeling really tiny apples. And it's quite a bit of work for such a small thing. But Gabriel loves it. He'd try to grab the peeled grape and stuff it in his mouth. So we have to be careful he only bites off a small bit.

Photo Session

I spent sometime with the kids yesterday. Bryan wanted to play with his Thomas snake and ladders. Where you climb up ladders and slide down tunnels. It was quite funny because he wanted to play by himself. So I watched him play and snapped some rather amusing photos. He'd roll the dice, move the play piece and ask me questions about the stuff on the board. Like if he should go up the ladder here? Or if he is supposed to go down the tunnel here? It was quite a quick game though. I'm sure he skipped some squares.

Meanwhile, Gabriel in his playroom amused himself with his blocks. He is learning how to use tools. Like a hammer. And how to drum with drumsticks. He'd get it right a few times and then lose interest in the 'game'. So he'd turn to his blocks. Today, he likes the blue blocks. He'd pick the blue ones out of the container of coloured blocks and chew on them. Isn't he just so adorable? I don't get very much time to take photos of Gabriel. Because after a while, he realises what Mommy is doing and crawls over. He wants a go at the camera too.

A Special Day

Today is the 9th of the 9th month (September) of the year '09. I don't take note of numbers usually but I thought this is pretty cool.

This is the day that Gabriel turns 11 months. And the day that Bryan has a special programme in school and swimming lessons.

I think it should feel like a special day. Not like a birthday or christmas. But maybe like the end-of-school-day or a going-to-the-zoo day. I should do something special with the kids.

Army Open House 2009

This weekend was the army open house. Where the general public gets to see all the combat vehicles. Bryan was very excited to go. And I think hubbie was as well. Gabriel tagged along. And chewed on his biscuit pretty much the whole time.

We even got to look at lots of army vehicles. Bryan was extra excited about the ones he could climb up on.

Bryan and hubbie climbed up the huge Leopard tank. It was really very big. I think that was one of my favourites too. I wonder what it looked like inside...

Here's Bryan and me in another one.

In one of the exhibition buildings, Bryan got to actually carry an actual assault rifle. It's actually much heavier than it looks. There were other buildings/exhibitions where we could try lot of other fun stuff, but Bryan is a little too small for them. Maybe in a few years.

Crawl Part 2

Gabriel loves to crawl. He'd insist on getting down from the chair so he can explore. Which would be great if we didn't have a dog at home and a marble floor. So I try to keep him in the playroom where we have those rubber mats. But he gets bored with his toys and wants to do some exploring instead. And he does gets quite insistent.

So here is Gabriel with mom giving in...

Weekly Scrapz

I used the last of my October Afternoon 'Ducks in a Row' papers, rub-ons, stickers, die-cuts. Flowers from Prima.

These two layouts are from My Little Shoebox, papers and diecuts. I'm also loving the Hambly rub-ons, the Inkadinkado dragonfly stamp and the swiss-dotted Bazzil cardstock in the first layout. The second one, I used up the rest of my October Afternoon 'Ducks in a Row' stuff as well.
